Have a Splendid Day

I finally had some time to create! I used Sketch 129 from Card Patterns Weekly Sketch Blog to make my card. It was great inspiration.

I used my new Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge to cut out some of the shapes that correspond to the Harvest Happiness stamp set. I also played around with some borders and decorative layers. So much fun! The paper that makes that large strip going across the middle of the card is my favorite from the Dreamin' paper pack.

August Constant Campaign

Whew! What a busy couple of weeks it has been! Busy in a good way. We got to get together with old friends of mine from high school and from college...so nice to see how all of our families have grown and how we can still sit and talk like the old days! There have been visits to the pool and playdates and catching up on reading. I also had the opportunity to be a vendor at Crop for a Cure (soon to be called Crop for the Cause), a charity scrapbooking crop organized by the Fredericksburg chapter of Tri-Delta to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. It was a lot of work getting ready for the crop but how nice it was to have my cricut and new Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge to use to get the make and takes ready!

 I am feeling summer vacation rushing by. I actually do like having the kids home and enjoy spending time with them at a more relaxed pace, even when they are getting on each others nerves! School is starting too soon (I never thought I'd say that!).

My card for today is a very simple one but I like how it came out. I originally started it with the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge CFC13 in mind, CFC13-The Long and Short of it: Create a 4 x 9 card and keep it Clean And Simple! Then I thought I would try to just use the colors red and aqua to fit in with the color challenge at Our Creative Corner. Then I saw that the challenge at Heart 2 Heart was to create a project themed toward a child's birthday. So I think my card can fit all three of these challenges! Whew!

Play Date Cafe Challenge PDCC92 - Just a Note

My first thought after seeing the colors for the current challenge at The Play Date Cafe was, "Yummy!" The suggested colors are Coral, Petal Pink, and Antique Gold. Interestingly enough, I ended up using some CTMH colors named after desserts: Sorbet and Creme Brulee. Quite yummy!

I think this color combination is just gorgeous and it is one that I don't tend to use it very much so I'm glad it made me think outside of my box.

Heart to Heart Challenge 66

I've been trying to organize and declutter my craft area and although I knew I had a lot of retired (CTMH) items, my efforts have brought to light the enormity of the amount of retired paper, embellishments, and stamps that I have! Yikes! (And I do let my daughter use my things and I often donate items to the preschool where I work. There's just so much!) I think I had better get down to more creating!

So here's my entry for this week's Heart 2 Heart Challenge (using a number of retired items such as that cute ribbon). I don't know if you can tell from the photo, but I used Liquid Glass on the beak and on the little white dot on the irises.

Art Philosophy Cricut® Collection

We are back from vacation and I spent much of my down time pouring over the new Close To My Heart Idea Book (Autumn/Winter 2011) which goes live on August 1st! There are some big changes, one of which is that we now sell a Cricut cartridge called, "Art Philosophy," which coordinates with a number of Close To My Heart stamp sets and Dimensional Elements! Here's a video that gives some more information and shows some samples of projects made with the cartridge and coordinating products.
