February 2013 Constant Campaign - Digital Delights

I'm so excited about the February Close To My Heart Special! All Studio J layouts (2 pages) will be $5! Yay! It's a savings of $1.95 per each two page layout. I have a ton of digital layouts that I'd like to do to finish up my 2012 family album and the kids' school albums so this is going to be great! There will also be new digital paper packs in February so I am looking forward to working on my layouts. If you haven't tried Studio J yet, now is the time. Remember, there's no software to buy and it's free to try out. You only pay for your printed layout.s Go here to get started.

Here's the latest Love Your Layout video for you to pick up some tips and tricks on Studio J.

Simple Sympathy Card

Here's a simple sympathy card. I used my Cricut Artiste to make the roses, a Nestabilities die to make the deckled rectangle, and the Argyle Cuttlebug embossing folder. One of my favorite elements of the card is the tiny double bow. After reading this post by Allisa Chilton, I went ahead and purchased a Bow Easy and that is what I used to help me with this bow!

Supplies Used (All CTMH except where noted)--
Cardstock: Honey, Chocolate, White Daisy, Bamboo
Stamp Set:(D476) Card Chatter - Sympathy
Embellishments: Designer Ribbon Rounds Cocoa Collection, Opaques Pearl Adhesive Gems, Liquid Glass, Nestabilities Deckled Rectangles, Cuttleug Argyle Embossing Folder

Hi Birdie -

I used my Cricut Artiste cartridge to make my (Topiary) green border and to cut my word bubble. The word bubble stamp which says "hi!" also comes with the cartridge bundle and is probably my favorite from that set! I love all those little flowers surrounding the "hi!" The little bird is a sneak peek from a stamp set called Hello Blooms and the paper is also a sneak peek of the paper pack called For Always. I was intending to do some different things with this card. I was going to paper piece the bird after stamping it -- I wanted the legs to show but I was going to adhere the top of the bird stamped and cut out from plain white cardstock and the layout was going to be completely different...but I liked the bird stamped directly on the patterned word paper and I liked the less fussy look from what I intended so there you go!

Supplies Used (all CTMH) --
Stamps: Word Balloons from Cricut artiste commercial, (C1540) Hello Blooms - available 2/1/13
Stamp Pad: Black
Paper Pack: (X7165B) For Always - available 2/1/13
Cardstock: Topiary, White Daisy, Black
Alcohol Marker: Pear
Embellishments: Opaques Licorice Adhesive Gems. Bitty Sparkles (for bird's eye), Foam Tape

Paper Doll - It's Your Birthday

I have another sneak peek for you of one of my favorite new stamp sets from the new CTMH catalog. This cute girl is from the set (D1547) Paper Doll which will be available on February 1st. She was a lot of fun to color. I am slowly adding to my marker collection. Both copics and CTMH. I have yet to get a black alcohol marker (and shades of it) though and my daughter was extremely annoyed that I did not color the paper doll's hair black, which is the color of my daughter's hair! It gives me a good excuse to buy more markers, no?

This is the first time I have ever made a Center Step card. I used a wonderful tutorial from Beccy's Place. She has great tutorials for all sorts of differently folded cards here and is working on putting up more.

Here is a view of the inside...

...and here's a side view just to give you a better idea of what the card looks like.

Supplies Used (All Close To My Heart)--
Patterned Paper: Chantilly (available 2/1/13)
Cardstock: Crytal Blue, Buttercup, White Daisy
Stamp Sets: (D1547) Paper Doll, (D1475) Card Chatter-Birthday
Markers: Pear set, Sorbet set, Sky set, Cotton Candy set, Honey set
Stamp Pad: Archival Black
Embellishments: Hollyhock Brads, Foam Tape, Just Blooms Paradise Paper Flowers, Twill Ribbon (retired)

A Cup of Good Cheer

This week's Heart 2 Heart Challenge is Hot Cocoa. I took the theme literally and came up with a Hot Cocoa holder! I used my Cricut Artiste cartridge to make a library pocket (shift, card, key U). If you use "Fit To Page," the size will show up as 6" so I made a liner for it sized at 5-3/4" using the same shape. My liner sheet is another sneak peek from my favorite new paper pack, Chantilly (available on 2/1/13). The frame is a sneak peek from a new stamp set called Frame Flair.

Supplies Used (all CTMH except Copics)--
Stamp Set: (B1404) Cup of Cheer, (D1546-available 2/1/13) Frame Flair
Stamp Pad: Chocolate
Cardstock: Crystal Blue, Juniper, White Daisy
Patterned Paper: (available 2/1/13) Chantilly
 CTMH Markers (Retired): Buttercup, Sunflower
Copics: B21, E25
Embellishments: Liquid Applique, (Retired) Heart Bead, (Retired) Juniper Waxy Flax, Designer Ribbon Cocoa Collection, Cricut Artste, Cricut Art Philosophy

The Best Day - Studio J Layout

It's been a long time since I posted a Studio J layout so I thought I'd share. I used one of the new layouts in the Express Collection in Studio J. It was super quick and I love how it came out. Except it looks like I don't know how to spell gorgeous! That's what happens when I rush and don't use spell check!

I Heart You

I used Clean and Simple's Sketch #223 to make this card. I also used the stamp set and Silver Glitter Paper from the current Constant Campaign, Whooo's Your Valentine. In case you're interested, you might want to purchase sooner rather than later as the supply for it was down to 39% the last time I checked! I am also giving you a sneak peek at Chantilly, one of the new papers that will be available with our new catalog starting on February 1st. The pink patterned paper is the one from Chantilly. Isn't it yummy?
I'm also entering my card in Oozak's Challenge #10: Anything Goes with Pink and Bling.

Journaling Cards Made With Dotty For You

I made a bunch of journaling cards with some scraps of card stock and the Dotty For You paper which was a special a number of months ago. This time, I didn't adhere my cards to my 4" x 6" background card stock in order to leave myself some flexibility when it comes time to put my Project Life layout together.

Here they are all jumbled up with the card stock that I think I'll use as backgrounds.

And here is a more organized look. Remember, they are not adhered to the card stock on purpose.

I used the It's Your Day stamp set which was a special in the summer and September. I cut out a bunch of rounded rectangle shapes using the Cricut Artiste cartridge. I also used a sticker from the Color-Ready Noted Canvas Shapes. The tiny MTWTF on the yellow polka dotted card is cut out from a sheet of paper in the Scholastic Paper Pack.

Right now I am storing my journaling cards in CTMH's My Creations Recipe/Photo Box, which I love. It keeps everything nice and compact and organized. I still need to decorate it!

I imagine that if I end up having a lot of cards and card stock cut out, I can shift everything to my Organizer to give myself more room.

There are a ton of free printable journaling cards available online. Just doing a Google search or a Pinterest search will yield quite a few resources if you'd like to print something. Here are a few that I found (a lot of them are thanks to Sue!).

Free Journaling Labels

Another good source is the blog: http://onevelvetmorning.wordpress.com/

I've downloaded a few for fun, but I am going to try to stick with using paper and stamps to make my own journaling cards since I already have the paper and stamps and I love making them!

Journaling Cards Made with Stella

Here's a group of journaling cards I made for my Project Life album, CTMH Style with the retired Stella Paper Packet. I am very happy to say that I used a lot of things from my stash. I believe the only new items are the butterflies and opaques (pearls). I did use the Cricut to cut one of my journaling blocks. Oh and the burlap paper is actually from the Scholastic Paper Pack. I thought it went well with the Stella papers. These cards will be for sometime in January as you can see from that little calendar but I left it open as to which week. I suppose if it doesn't work for January, I can stamp another little calendar and adhere it on top of the January one!

I am working on printing pictures and writing journaling for my Week 1. I am going to limit it to one page at least for this week (not a double layout). Pin It

Journaling Cards made with Scholastic

I made these 4" x 6" journaling cards with the Scholastic Paper Pack, Cricut Artiste cartridge, and Library Cards stamp set (retired). I love the notebook paper cut on the Artiste cartridge.

I didn't add dates to these cards because I want to leave it flexible as to when I use them. I do know that at some point this year, I want to document how much my daughter has been reading these days and which books are her favorites. She'll probably use the "library card" below to write them on which is why I stamped "My Favorites," on it.

I printed out this quote on the card below. I might put a photo next to the quote.

I love the graph paper from the Scholastic pack!

I don't have these yet but the Memo Assortment which coordinates with the Scholastic Paper Pack would make really cute journaling spots.

Are you doing Project Life this year? I'd love to hear about your plan! Another wonderful CTMH consultant recommended Ohlife.com as a tool to help with your journaling. After signing up, you will get an email everyday asking you to reply and write whatever you want to about that day. It's been a great reminder for me!

Shopping Our Stash #83: All White or Cream

I love tone on tone cards and the "All White or Cream" examples the design team made for the Shopping Our Stash Challenge #83 are just gorgeous! There so much texture going on there so I decided to use an embossing folder on my card too. I definitely "shopped my stash" and used a chipboard shape and some brads that I've had for a long while. The sentiment stamp set is very old but the fowers are more current. The cream colored background mat was a scrap from my scrap drawer (yay!). I'm sorry about my picture being angled but it does border all the way around! I popped up my flowers and added 3-D flower ribbon for more dimension. Hope you like it!

Supplies Used (All CTMH except for the Cuttlebug Argyle Embossing folder) -
Stamp Pads: Bamboo, Cocoa
Paper: Scrap from Roxie, White Daisy Cardstock
Stamp Sets: (Retired) Birthday Script, (C1494) Card Word Puzzle
Embellishments: (Z1336) Opaques Pearl Adhesive Gems, (Z1333) Opaques Mocha Adhesive Gems, (Z1800) Colonial White Rosette Ribbon, (Z1151) 3D Foam Tape, Dimensional Elements Frame, Colonial White Brads

Tomorrow, I'll post more of my journaling cards that I'm premaking for my Project Life, CTMH style album.

Avonlea Journaling Cards

As promised, I'm going to show you some of the jouraling cards I made for my Project Life, CTMH Style scrapbook. I used the Avonlea Paper Pack, the Cricut Artiste cartridge, Mocha Opaques, and the Dark Chocolate Tapestry Rub-ons (I'm so sad these will be retiring!) to make these 4" x 6" cards.

I stamped the dashed lines in the first and fourth cards with my retired Comments stamp set and I used my retired Limited Edition set, along with the November Stamp of the Month, Capture the Date for some of the other stamping. I also added a random Irresistibles chipboard die cut I had from a past special (2nd card--it's inked up with Chocolate) which got me thinking that the Irresistibles Persnickety Journaling Spots would be a fun thing to add to some other journaling cards. Here's a picture of them.
