Roxie Mojo 205

I fought my natural tendency to hoard and actually cut into my new pack of Roxie papers yesterday! I really like the Mojo Monday sketch for this week so this is what I used for inspiration.
I used Close To My Heart's 6" x 6" Kraft Die Cut cards for the first time as well. I mainly make standard sized cards but it was fun working with this size. So here's my take on the sketch.

The Kraft cards have a little scalloped edge that folds over the front. Here is a picture of the card with the scalloped edge showing.

And here's a closer view with it a little flatter.
I've been having fun with my new Cricut cartridge and cut out the "label" on which I stamped Happy Birthday with it as well as the spirals for the roses. Lisa Stenz has a great video tutorial about making the roses and rolling the edges down with a toothpick (it's a little easier if your flowers are larger). You can see her tutorial by clicking here. Anyway, in the midst of all this earthquake and hurricane hubbub, there I was yesterday, in my happy place, making paper roses! Very therapeutic!
I also cut my leaves with the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge but I bent them here and there and then sponged ink on them to give the look of veins.

Supplies used: (Z1474) 6" X 6" Kraft Die-Cut Cards & Envelopes, (D1475) Card Chatter - Birthday stamp set, (X7140B) Roxie Level 2 Paper Packet, (Z1616) Designer Ribbon Green Collection, (Z1686) Cricut® Art Philosophy Collection, (Z1387) Wooden Designer Buttons, (Z1333) Opaques Mocha Adhesive Gems,(Z282) Black Hemp, (Z2105) Black stamp pad, (Z2111) Chocolate stamp pad for sponging, Green textured paper

I am happy to report that we were not woken up with an aftershock last night (for the first time since the earthquake occured). We were, of course, lucky that the earthquake did not cause any damage...as far as we can tell. I hope we can say the same for Hurricane Irene in a couple of days!

Have a Splendid Day

I finally had some time to create! I used Sketch 129 from Card Patterns Weekly Sketch Blog to make my card. It was great inspiration.
I used my new Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge to cut out some of the shapes that correspond to the Harvest Happiness stamp set. I also played around with some borders and decorative layers. So much fun! The paper that makes that large strip going across the middle of the card is my favorite from the Dreamin' paper pack.

Supplies used: (X7142B) Dreamin' Level 2 paper pack, (C1463) Harvest Happiness stamp set, (Z2166) Tulip stamp pad, (Z2162) Honey stamp pad, (Z2164) Sorbet stamp pad, (Z2118) Desert Sand stamp pad, (Z2111) Chocolate stamp pad, (Z1686) Cricut Art Philosophy Collection, (Z1151) Foam Tape, Olive Waxy FlaxPin It

August Constant Campaign

Whew! What a busy couple of weeks it has been! Busy in a good way. We got to get together with old friends of mine from high school and from college...so nice to see how all of our families have grown and how we can still sit and talk like the old days! There have been visits to the pool and playdates and catching up on reading. I also had the opportunity to be a vendor at Crop for a Cure (soon to be called Crop for the Cause), a charity scrapbooking crop organized by the Fredericksburg chapter of Tri-Delta to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. It was a lot of work getting ready for the crop but how nice it was to have my cricut and new Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge to use to get the make and takes ready!

I am feeling summer vacation rushing by. I actually do like having the kids home and enjoy spending time with them at a more relaxed pace, even when they are getting on each others nerves! School is starting too soon (I never thought I'd say that!).

Well I hope to get back to posting artwork soon but here's a reminder about the current specials which Close To My Heart is running.

Close to my Heart has two promotions that are both valid at the same time from now until August 31st!

The first promotion is to celebrate our new Stamp of the Month program. When you spend $50, you can get the Stamp of the Month for only $5! Just for August, whenever you qualify for Wicked for $5, you will also get this versatile alphabet stamp set, A Typeface, at no extra cost.

When you spend $50 in August, you can get the August stamp of the month, Wicked, for only $5. If you order $100 worth of products, you can order an additional stamp of the month for $5 more dollars and get another A Typeset stamp set for free. It makes a great gift for a friend!

To celebrate National Stamping Month (which is in September), you will get this wonderful double stamp set called Pair-a-Phrase for free, whenever you spend $75! Pair-a-Phrase contains two D-size sets which come in one envelope and it has lots of sweet images and phrases good for both card making and scrapbook layouts. This promotion runs from now through September 30th.

Since the promotions overlap from August 15 - 31, if you spend $75, and get the August Stamp of the Month Wicked for $5, you will get both the A Typeface stamp for free and the Pair-a-Phrase double stamp set for free...it doesn't get any better than this!

Look at this sample order -- when you buy the new Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge bundle, which contains 700 images including fonts and 3-D items (not to mention three D sized stamp set and three sheets of die cut chipboard in coordinating shapes), you will automatically qualify for all of these great promotions! So for a price of about $104 before shipping and taxes, you will get 7 stamps sets, 3 sheets of chipboard, and the Art Philosophy Cricut bundle! This is a super deal!

Here's to You

My card for today is a very simple one but I like how it came out. I originally started it with the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge CFC13 in mind, CFC13-The Long and Short of it: Create a 4 x 9 card and keep it Clean And Simple! Then I thought I would try to just use the colors red and aqua to fit in with the color challenge at Our Creative Corner. Then I saw that the challenge at Heart 2 Heart was to create a project themed toward a child's birthday. So I think my card can fit all three of these challenges! Whew!

Supplies used (all CTMH except for ribbon): (D1462) Splendid Day stamp set, (Z2194) Sky stamp pad, (Z2195) Lagoon stamp pad, (Z2166) Tulip stamp pad, Tulip cardstock, (retired) textured cardstock for the card base and blue strips along the bottom, (Z578) corner rounder to make the scalloped border,
