Journaling Cards Made With Dotty For You

I made a bunch of journaling cards with some scraps of card stock and the Dotty For You paper which was a special a number of months ago. This time, I didn't adhere my cards to my 4" x 6" background card stock in order to leave myself some flexibility when it comes time to put my Project Life layout together.

Here they are all jumbled up with the card stock that I think I'll use as backgrounds.

 

And here is a more organized look. Remember, they are not adhered to the card stock on purpose.

 

I used the It's Your Day stamp set which was a special in the summer and September. I cut out a bunch of rounded rectangle shapes using the Cricut Artiste cartridge. I also used a sticker from the Color-Ready Noted Canvas Shapes. The tiny MTWTF on the yellow polka dotted card is cut out from a sheet of paper in the Scholastic Paper Pack.

 

Right now I am storing my journaling cards in CTMH's My Creations Recipe/Photo Box, which I love. It keeps everything nice and compact and organized. I still need to decorate it!

 

I imagine that if I end up having a lot of cards and card stock cut out, I can shift everything to my Organizer to give myself more room.

 

There are a ton of free printable journaling cards available online. Just doing a Google search or a Pinterest search will yield quite a few resources if you'd like to print something. Here are a few that I found (a lot of them are thanks to Sue!).

I've downloaded a few for fun, but I am going to try to stick with using paper and stamps to make my own journaling cards since I already have the paper and stamps and I love making them!

Dotty for You Layout

I was able to have some creative time this past weekend! Hooray! Heather and I attended the Conway Crop (hosted by the super wonderful Janice and the Conway PTA). Thanks for being my scrapping buddy Heather! We actually got a lot accomplished and I am feeling motivated.

How do you like to organize your scrapbooks? I know I've mentioned this before but I like having an annual family album, at least for now while the kids are young, plus school albums for each child and birthday albums for each child. I may combine years at some point for the family albums but this is what I am doing for now.

Since I've had gaps in when I've been able to scrap regularly, I've been working backwards on my family albums now. I am digitally scrapping almost all of my most recent photos with Studio J so I am able to keep up for the most part on that end. In our house, we started with digital photos somewhat late and what's worse for me is that I don't have all of those photos saved on my computer (in nice neatly organized and dated files). I have them saved on Snapfish though so I just go through and print those pictures to scrapbook. After all, I have to use up all that lovely (patterned) paper I have! Right now, I am working on our 2008 album.

It seems like when I go to crops, I tend to make the design for my layouts and get my pictures down but I often leave the titles and journaling for later. I also often add embellishments later. Part of the reason for this is that I don't carry a lot with me so sometimes I don't have the embellishments I want and I sometimes like to print my journaling from the computer. I think there are many people who like to get their layouts totally completed when they go to a crop. What's your preference? I did get a chance to work a little today and ended up completing this layout.

For this layout, I used the Close To My Heart Special for National Scrapbooking Month -- the Dotty For You Papers (available for $5 when you place an order of $35 or more). Whe I first saw the papers in the pack, I thought I would never use that zig-zag paper. I felt sure I would end up using the back -- all the reverse sides are polka-dotted. But it just seemed to work with these photos and I liked how adding the chipboard circles softened up the design.

I also used one of my favorite new products from the Spring/Summer Catalog, the yummy Baker's Twine in the Paradise Assortment, along with one of my favorite older products on the "mini", the Irresistibles Lots of Dots alphabet stickers (you can color these with ink, markers, chalk, etc. and the polka dotted pattern will show up in white).
